Bus Passengers [Video still]
5min / loop / No sound / 2005
Bus Passengers is a video portrait of passengers on the bus at night, filmed openly from the sidewalk as buses moved up Broadway in New York City. Each portrait frames a single passenger, holding the shot until the bus pulls away. In this way the project uses the infrastructure and movement of the city to determine the framing and duration of each image. In postproduction two sequences of portraits are together, creating a filmic illusion that echoes the close physical proximity with strangers in New York City.
